Donkey Wheel House Events is now a Kinfolk business, which means that 100% of the profits from events are distributed to our charity partners. This merger allows both businesses to more powerfully pursue our purpose of building more inclusive communities through ethical choices.
We are thrilled to announce that Donkey Wheel House Events is now a Kinfolk business, which means that 100% of the profits from events are distributed to our charity partners.
Donkey Wheel House Events becoming a Kinfolk business is good news for everyone because it means we can provide better value for our customers while achieving even better social outcomes.
We do this by sourcing our products ethically, supporting Kinfolk’s volunteer program through our operation and redistributing all profits to our charity partners - The Cathy Freeman Foundation and Urban Seed.
The merging of Donkey Wheel House Events under the Kinfolk Charity formalises a close working relationship and purpose alignment that we have enjoyed for several years. This merger allows both businesses to more powerfully pursue our shared purpose of building more inclusive communities. We are excited to help each other to achieve so much more now that all our events services are provided under one roof.
Our relationship started several years ago with a few catering dates and over the last few years we developed a strong relationship. Kinfolk was really into the idea of offering consumers a conscious approach to creative events and since we have lived in the same building for years and our values are already so similar we decided to make it official.
We share the building with a unique community of people using business to make a positive difference in the world. Having your event here means showing your guests that your values align with the most responsible, ambitious and creative businesses operating in Melbourne. Guests are invited to consider a different perspective on how to use business to generate profit while contributing to positive social change.
“It is our vision that by offering space for people to host creative presentations, workshops and conferences inside Melbourne's home for social impact, we will build a calendar of events that inspire people to use business to make a difference.” Jarrod Briffa, CEO of Kinfolk Enterprise said. “We want our customers to know that every dollar they spend will make a difference.”
So when you are looking for a creative event space for your next product launch, private event, workshop, team meeting, presentation or conference, your choice just got a whole lot easier!

See what our lovely friends have to say about us:
"It is important to us at The School of Life that we choose suppliers whose values align with our own. Donkey Wheel House Events understands how we can all use business as a force for good in the world. Holding our events at DWHE is a clear alignment of values. The service we receive is always friendly and personal, and the spaces are warm and impeccably presented." - Megan Sheehy, The School of Life Melbourne.
"Donkey Wheel House and the events team have been integral partners of the Melbourne Creative Mornings chapter. Not only do their values as an organisation align with the most responsible and ambitious practices of all creatives, but the space itself offers an incredibly warm and inviting atmosphere rich with history, which is rare these days, especially in such a convenient location of Melbourne's CBD. It's fair to say that our chapter’s recent growth would simply not have been possible without their generous support." - Jeremy Wortsman, Creative Mornings Melbourne.
"We love hosting Slow School events at Donkey Wheel House. Not only is their support and service outstanding, they are completely aligned with our values. Its important to me to work with companies that share the same commitment to making a difference and improving the world. We love not only using the space but ensuring our course participants support Kinfolk where they get to see first hand the impact of a social enterprise at work. Can't recommend them highly enough for your next event." - Carolyn Tate - The Slow School of Business.
"Melbourne Development Circle provides a warm, friendly forum where people working or interested in development and humanitarian sectors get together regularly to listen to challenging speakers and network with each other.
We regularly hold our events at Donkey Wheel House because we love that it is perfectly located, accessible and its spaces are ideal for workshops and presentations; but what we love more is that Donkey Wheel House shares our vision – a vision to deliver events for people who want to make a difference." Felicity Sowerbutts - Event Manager, Melbourne Development Circle.
"Donkey Wheel House Events is an energising space that has provided our workshops with a creative atmosphere to work in. It provides an alternative to the normal corporate spaces available in the CBD…and it is run by a team with a social conscience." Eleanor Osman – Nous Group.
"As a training facilitator, I’ve found Donkey Wheel House to be one of the best venues in Melbourne. The super-friendly and responsive staff are a great start. Also, the spacious, airy and architecturally interesting rooms make for a terrific environment, with good technology and equipment provided. The individualised coffee service and tasty, healthy food from Kinfolk Cafe downstairs are exceptional. The location is also highly accessible, in terms of proximity to trains and trams. I’d recommend Donkey Wheel House as being suitable for a wide variety of meetings, training or other events." - Deborah Rhodes – Trainer.
"We had our team day in The Depot room. The room was well-equipped and size and layout made for a comfortable event. The catering was excellent and staff were both courteous and helpful throughout the day." Lorna Deng – NAB.
