A LITTLE FOR A LOT - Nepal Project Development
In May, Donkey Wheel House Events, Kinfolk & Mount Zero Olives joined forces in facilitating a fundraising dinner for communities affected by the Nepal earthquake. With over $14,000 raised and donated to Himalayan Development Foundation Australia (HDFA), we are pleased to share with you an update on how these funds have been distributed.
Since the event, HDFA have deployed $30,000 in immediate relief efforts; providing shelter, food and medical attention to rural communities around the epicentre of the earthquake.
Also, additional funds have been raised allowing the redevelopment of a schooling facility to take place over the coming months. Through HDFAs ongoing fundraising efforts, they are committed to providing continual community support and development with a focus on longterm benefit as well as immediate relief.
HDFA have been working alongside PHASE Nepal, a local NGO providing on-the-ground support to the affected communities. So far, these funds have enabled PHASE to deliver 2994 bags of rice, 619 tarpaulins, 1060 tents, 291 shelter kits and medication to a number of villages in the Sindhupalchok and Ghorkha districts.
What an exceptional example and reminder that together, we are change and can make a different difference!
